Abstract


  • Purposes - Employees are an important asset for an organization. High-performing employees will contribute greatly to the company. Likewise, if employee performance is low, then the company's performance is bad. For this reason, the focus of this study is about employee performance. In particular, the purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of emotional intelligence on employee performance mediated by work stress and moderated by religiosity.

  • Methods - This study was used quantitative research methods, especially correlation research. The sample of this study was 41 respondents. This study uses a questionnaire instrument with a rating scale. Meanwhile, data analysis in this study uses Structural Equation Modeling Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS).

  • Findings - The results of the study indicated positive results for testing the effect of emotional intelligence on work stress and the effect of emotional intelligence on employee performance. But the effect of work stress on employee performance, although positive, but it was not significant. Other results show that work stress did not mediate the effect of emotional intelligence on employee performance. As with religiosity, it did not moderate the effect of emotional intelligence on employee performance.
